I added a new “things to go over list”, after Brandi and Mason’s wedding. 1.) Always know the code to get into the Air B&B, and 2.) start suggesting B&B’s for alternative getting ready locations.
My first South Dakota wedding of the year! Mason and Brandi.. These two remind me so much of my husband and I. When they talk to each other I totally think – I hear myself talking. I was lucky enough to meet Brandi because of her best friend, Kaeleigh is an amazingly talented photographer so I was slightly intimidated. The entire day was a dream and I felt as I was one of the cool people for the day.
So imagine this — A wide open floor plan, giving everyone plenty of room, snacks and the bouquet in the fridge, makeup and hair products sprawled on the kitchen counters and all of your girlfriends spending your last night as a “miss” together in a B&B. The best part, you get to get ready the next day in the same space, and then that night its you and the husband. Yep, thats the B&B experience I was introduced to. So after coming into this amazing place, hair got curling and I headed into Brandi’s bridal bag –
So what is the bridal bag! Cliff notes: these are items we gather together through calls, questionnaires, and our awesome conversations. I also make sure you have your items from the old adage “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue?”
“Something Olde, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, A Sixpence in your Shoe”— Derives from the Old English rhyme, which names the four good-luck objects (plus a sixpence to bring prosperity)”
English folklore
Besides the I do’s, one of the best parts of a wedding is friends and family being able to partake in festivities. Everyone is ready to enjoy all of the moments you have planned and celebrate you being.. married.
I feel blessed, I always seem to work with couple’s who are up for anything. So bridal portraits in the middle of the street – happen. Waving to traffic as they honk their congratulations and then drove around us – happen. A “right after the ceremony shot” at the bar – you betcha! Amazing laughter, happy tears and music dedications that brought me to cloudy eyes, yes it happened, and it happens alot! and I love it.
The dress details killed me, but then again so did these images!
Brandi’s bracelet was given to her by her grandma, I love seeing personal pieces and additions that a bride wears.
Ok, let’s talk reception!
Every detail was beautiful, and the cupcakes were amazing! But the dances take the cake here. Entertainment was provided by the ever amazing WOW Entertainment out of Sioux Falls, and DJ Rich was able to keep the night rolling. Brandi was able to surprise everyone but especially her best friend and her husband and her brother and his wife with their first dance songs. Allowing each couple a private dance as a thank you for all of their love and mentorship through the years. I couldn’t help but feel the love in this room. Goosebumps and tears were on the arms and faces of everyone in the room. I have never seen anything so loving and meaningful done in that manner before.
The rest of the night was blur, between amazing dances, cupcakes, great conversations, some ass shaking, did I mention the cupcakes, we celebrated a bride and groom who are now mr. and mrs.
Here’s to the new MR and MRS Ford and your anniversary every four years!
